Saint Stefanus Blonde
by Brasserie Van Steenberge (brewery website)
Origin: Belgium – Type: Blonde – Alcohol: 7%
The beer: St Stefanus beer is a surprisingly Belgian strong beer which is very fresh and quite light on the after taste. We have drunk it as it was 6 months old only – it is fermenting in the bottle even after it has been bottled. So we believe that the taste and its character will evolve in the time if you drink it at 6, 8, 12 or even 18 months old. It has a very nice lemon taste on the after taste. To be tried again with the same year’s batch in 8 and 12 months!
The little extra: You can have the pleasure and the complexity of a Belgian beer when you drink it even if you want to drink a light and refreshing beer!
Where we had it: At Bière et Malt, a little beer shop in Paris. There are few tables to drink on-site and some plates of cured meets and cheeses are served as well. The staff is very nice and gives good advices to choose the best beers. The place is cosy and has a nice atmosphere. Beers sold are mostly from Belgium but you can find also French and American beers along with the “special” beers available on a temporary basis. You can also buy beers to bring them at home! It is really a nice place to go if you want to have a nice beer tasting session !
