by Meantime Brewery (brewery website)
Origin: England – Type: American Amber/Red Ale – Alcohol: 4.1%
The beer: Yakima Red is a really refreshing beer with hints of fruit, particularly citrus. There is a slight bitterness, but it’s not overstated in the slightest. This is certainly a beer that can be consumed in higher quantities, without getting too drunk and without overloading your tastebuds with too much richness. It’s hard to say, but this may be the best that I tasted on a recent Meantime Brewery tour!
The little extra: Yakima Red, as the name suggests, is a red ale brewed with hops from the Yakima Valley in the US. This makes it a truly transatlantic beer.
Where we bought it: The Meantime Brewery in Greenwich, south east London. A very nice place and a must visit to discover the secrets of brewing in one of the most beautiful breweries of the UK.
